T Moyle Redruth VW Golf 4Motion Fiesta 1.4 TDCI April 2010 Had a Tunit Diesel Tuning Box fitted today on my 03 Fiesta TDCI 1.4 which had a annoying dip in power between gear changes, and was very easy to stall when pulling away. After the box was fitted there was a change in the power delivery on pulling away, which the vehicle would now do without any throttle. On the road test David carried out a adjustment on the settings which improved the overhaul driveability and the car fells now like it want to go. Pleased with the results, but this model of vehicle the common rail connection is in a difficult place and the battery and tray needed to come out with a couple of air pick up pipes, and I recommend you get David to fit yours. April 2010 The Audi has been owned for more
than
five years now, so I have got to know the characteristics of the engine
and its performance very well.
We have driven through Scotland and
Wales on numerous occasions, and have enjoyed the torquey motor and
sharp handling. (Regular returns of 45 - 50 mpg have been achieved).
We had been considering the
installation of a chip upgrade or similar for some time, and did the
usual web research into this.
Results from forums and experiences
from friends convinced us enough to purchase a digital tuning box.
After some hunting around for a
supplier, we came across David Dunstan from Cornwall. After a telephone
conversation with him, we ordered the box, and 24 hrs later we were on
our way to Cornwall to have the box fitted.
The trip to Cornwall is around 100
miles from our base, so we thought this would be a fair test for mpg.
We set the trip, and keeping to the
speed limit, the Audi returned 53.3 mpg.
David fitted the DTE box in around
10
minutes - no messy wiring or chopping into the loom, just plug and play.
After a road test, we set off back
to
Devon.
The first noticeable difference was
the throttle response - A light touch on the throttle and you could
feel the car wanting to accelerate, lots more torque and no black smoke.
Resisting the urge to explore this
increase in power and torque further, we set the trip once more to test
the possible difference in mpg.
Again keeping to the speed limit,
and
driving in the same style as on the way down we achieved 60.5 mpg! (
never achieved before in five years of owning the vehicle )
A Scotch trip was planned for the
following day, and we were keen to find out more about the increased
performance.
On the plus side
Fantastic throttle response.
Power when you need it right off the
bottom.
No black smoke.
Significant increase in mpg ( 59 mpg
average on the 900 mile Scotch round trip )
If you want some fun, the motor will
now pull longer and harder through the rev range.
On the minus side
Nothing as yet.

T Moyle Redruth Mitsubishi Shogun LWB 3.2DI-D May 2010 I was recommended by to try a DTE Tuning Box on my Shogun which I felt the lacked initial acceleration by a friend Trevor Moyle, and we had one fitted unknown to me by my son for my birthday. I drove the vehicle with 4 adults on-board that very same evening, and noticed straight away the engine was smother and pulled better. I had a trip again fully loaded of over 200 miles the following day and the vehicle had more power and cruised between 70-80mph on a light throttle, and returned a better fuel consumption, of which I will confirm the exact gains over the next full tank full. Frank Andrew Redruth Vauxhall Vivaro 2.0 dCi July 2010 Purchased a box earlier this year and after unsuccessful attempts to fit it I contacted the supplier, who put me in touch with David. He fitted the box and did some securing back of the wiring harness, not secured correctly around the fuse box by previous attempts to fit. Box was fitted and we went on Road Test, I was surprised at how well my van was pulling where as before it felt underpowered when loaded. A friend now wants his van converted after the results with mine. August Update. My mpg has risen from 33mpg to 39mpg and the van is used for work during the week, and I carry a lot of Industrial tiles, well pleased Peter St Ives Cornwall Vauxhall Vivaro 1.9 DCi 100bhp Had this van for quite a few years and although its been a good vehicle, its always felt under powered. My business is Property Development so the van is loaded up pretty much on a day to day basis, and suffers on initial pull away and up hills. We had a Tuning Box fitted to my brothers vehicle last summer and discussed getting the van done as well, but now with the fuel increase and Vat we decided to try a Tuning Box on it. David sorted out a DTE Tuning Box for us and did a nice job on the install as usual, and to be honest when we got the van back we thought it had a different engine fitted. The engine now pulls so much stronger and we can use 1 gear higher coming in our steep entrance. Amazed at the difference its made. Once again thanks David for the service and attention to detail Andrew Bros Property Developers Redruth Cornwall VW EOS 140bhp TDi After selling a TDI 170 I felt my new VW Eos which is only available in 140bhp spec a bit underpowered, so I asked dave to sort out a tuning box. The box has made a big difference and now the Eos feels like my old 170 Thanks Dave C Andrew Redruth VW Transporter T5 2.5 TDI 174bhp Looking for a bit more mpg I asked dave to fit a box on my T5 which he did and done a nice neat job. I can say that the difference with the box on pulling a twin axle trailer with half a ton of steel was very good hardly noticing the trailer on the back Will report on the mileage a a later date. A Benney Truro Cornwall Land Rover Discovery 4 3.0 TDI V6 Being disappointed with my new 3.0s mpg after the previous 2.7 v6, I had my box fitted. On the Trip down to Cornwall to have it fitted (100 miles) the fuel consumption worked out at 29.83mpg On the return trip back which included a run and blowing off a Range Rover 4.0 HSE the mpg worked out at exactly 36mpg The car now has a lot more torque at very low revs and now does not change down going up inclines, and is smoother to drive, but I was not expecting such a massive improvement between 2500-3500rpm ! The performance now in that range which is between 50-90mph is very impressive and for a 2.5ton vehicle would take a powerful car to pass it. Once again thanks Dave superb neat install into the side pod UPDATE On a receint trip where time was short even doing between 80-90mph most of the way home, returned 31mpg where as before this would have been down in the 20's Steve Rule Castleford Engineering Skoda Fabia 2 1.4TDI Had a box fitted on my 1.4TDI to increase power and MPG, which it has done both. On the power side its transformed the car pulling better in the higher gears, and improved the driveability into a better package. MPG has picked up on avg 5mpg so pleased with the results. I Phillips Cornwall BMW 118D Had my software updated on my CRD Box to work with my new car, and I have picked up 5mpg and a fair chunk of performance, so once again pleased with the results C Andrew Redruth VW Golf Mk5 GT TDI 140 Sept 2011 Had a DTE Box fitted to my 140 PD Engine and it now is far more responsive and is returning better local fuel consumption by some 8mpg. Power is up and now pulls really well. L Lawry Redruth Ford Mondeo 2.2 TDCI Duratec (2011 Reg) 200bhp Oct 2011 Had a Red Box fitted to my new Mondeo TDCI 200bhp this afternoon, and even though standard its a powerful car the throttle response was improved and I only need to touch the throttle to get a better power delivery. On the way down (70miles) I got 33.4mpg and on the way home I got 40.3mpg and the power delivery is superb. Well I tried each programme in turn and even in the Eco mode there is a big improvement over stock with a very noticeable gain to throttle response, I'm currently using setting 1 the Sport programme which makes it very nice to drive, setting 2 the Sport+ programme is much more intense still drivable but wants to spin the wheels on takeoff so the Sport 1 setting suits me fine nice T Moyle Redruth |
